Emergency Service Land Observation Satellite Helps China Eastern Airlines Passenger Plane Crash RescPublishDate:2022-07-25

  At about 14:38 on March 21, 2022, when a Boeing 737-800 flight MU5735 of China Eastern Airlines was performing the Kunming-Guangzhou mission, it lost contact and crashed over Motong Village, Teng County, Wuzhou City, Guangxi, and caused a mountain fire. The accident is currently under search and rescue and investigation.

  The China Resources Satellite Application Center affiliated to China Aerospace Science and Technology Group Co., Ltd. immediately activated the emergency response mechanism for major accidents, quickly established an emergency team, and promptly arranged the Gaofen-3, Gaofen-4, and Gaofen-1 02 satellites on March 21. A total of 3 observations were made in the accident area that night and on the 22nd. It is provided to the National Disaster Reduction Center of the Ministry of Emergency Management and the Land Satellite Remote Sensing Application Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources as soon as possible.

  In the follow-up, China Resources Satellite Application Center will scientifically arrange satellite imaging according to the accident situation and the needs of relevant departments to provide strong support for accident rescue and assessment.
